Scott County Sheriff's Deputy Jaime Morales (Unit 217), who has been with the sheriff’s office since 2016 and is a former corporal in the U.S. Marines, was shot late Sept. 11 in a gunfight with a serial bank robbery suspect at a rest stop off of Interstate 75. Morales was responding with federal agents to the report of a suspicious vehicle.
“Doctors say at this point that Jaime is 90 percent paraplegic,” Sheriff Tony Hampton said Monday at a somber news conference in Georgetown, Kentucky.
